The combined conference program will stimulate thinking, promote excellence and extend valuable networks in the area of ABI.

Day one of the conference program will feature international and national invited speakers focusing on clinical, research and policy issues in regard to alcohol and other drug related brain injury. Day one will present participants with the opportunity to improve their understanding of this area in particular identification, assessment and diagnosis; treatment avenues and support interventions as well as access relevant literature and professional expertise.

Days two and three of the conference program will pick up the themes of ABI and alcohol and other drug related brain injury but will also further explore and expand on the issue of ABI focusing on multiple and complex needs; children and young people; financial, legal and advocacy issues; innovative models, innovative practice; cultural diversity; employment, accommodation and support; and the personal journey.

The entire conference program will feature keynote addresses as well as concurrent sessions. Importantly, days two and three of the conference will also be abstract driven so we encourage you to become involved in the program by submitting an abstract.

A success of the Brain Injury Australia National Conference 2006 was the partnering of keynote speakers with presentations by individuals with acquired brain injury and family members sharing insights and learnings from their lived experience. This tradition will continue, and gain strength, in 2008.
