Enabling our people & partners to achieve their very best
Along with assessment, intervention, and support services for individuals with an acquired brain injury, arbias is also passionate about conducting research within the populations of individuals we support. The arbias research portfolio has a strong emphasis on the scientist-practitioner model in aiming to conduct clinical research within a strong evidence-based framework. The portfolio aims to inform clinical practice and outcomes across all program areas including neuropsychological assessment and intervention, case management, and accommodation services. It also aims to develop empirical data within the acquired brain injury population, and to disseminate key research findings to an international audience via peer reviewed publications and conference presentations.
The arbias research portfolio consists of an internal working group and links to universities in creating postgraduate research opportunities in a varied clinical setting. Previous arbias research projects have focused on acquired brain injury within the Victorian Correctional system, with the research providing much needed insight into the rates of acquired brain injury among male and female inmates in Victoria. A key focus for the portfolio is to continue and develop research within the Criminal Justice system further, along with investigations examining acquired brain injury more generally, with a particular focus on the cognitive sequelae of polysubstance abuse.
Organisations interested in collaborating in arbias research projects are welcome, with postgraduate research projects investigating acquired brain injury particularly welcome. Enquiries should be directed to the arbias Research Portfolio Holder on (03) 8388 1222.
