Hangover For Life

Hangover For Life

Hangover For Life is a new campaign to educate all Australians about alcohol related brain damage.

It’s estimated 2 million Australians are now at risk of alcohol related brain damage because of the amount they are drinking. That’s enough people to fill 4,800 jumbo jets.

It’s critical the federal government launches a campaign soon to educate Australians about this growing issue.

Many organisations are supporting Hangover For Life.

These organisations include:

  • The Australian National Council on Drugs
  • The Australian Drug Foundation
  • Community Alcohol Action Network
  • The Mental Health Council of Australia
  • The Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Foundation
  • Turning Point
  • Australian Parents for Drug Free Youth
  • The Mental Health Research Institute
  • Jesuit Social Services
  • The National Organisation for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Related Disorders as well as numerous other community groups.

Top neuropsychologist Martin Jackson – who has been with arbias for many years – estimates over 200,000 Australians are currently out there with an undiagnosed alcohol related brain injury.

If you are a man drinking 6 standard drinks a day for 8 – 10 years you are at risk. If you are a woman drinking 3 standard drinks every day for 8 – 10 years, you are at risk. What many people consider ‘social drinking’ is potentially hazardous.

Alcohol related brain damage is horrific. People can lose their job, their income and even their family. Getting educated is part of the key – and that’s what this new not-for-profit campaign is all about. Thanks for visiting.
